doorslam
is Plasticene’s inaugural piece of original physical theater.
doorslam is a high–intensity sonic and visual nightmare performed
by a cast of four actors around three doors. A robotic, masked man meets
his exact double on his way to work and suffers comic, fantastic, and
dangerous consequences. With careful control and creative force, Plasticene
creates and develops an imaginative world composed of doors, newspapers,
coffee mugs, suits, and a single bare light–bulb.
doorslam
extended at The Steppenwolf Studio in April of 1996 and later that summer,
toured to The 1996 Edinburgh Fringe Festival where it earned a “Critic’s
Choice.”
